This time, it's us.
OK I gotta admit, Captain Anwar Haryanto deserves some kudos as well. He managed to land an MD-90 with more than 150 on board and no nose gears.
Yes, no front gears.
For those of you living in a cave, or simply not caring about the world, here's a quick recap. Lion Air Flight JT 972 departing from Medan's Polonia Airport landed in Batam's Hang Nadim after failing to release its nose wheels.
The plane had flown around for an hour to empty the fuel tank, in order to reduce risk of catching fire.
All 150 passengers and cabin crew were safe, with nine of them being hospitalized for stress.
Haryanto spoke to Metro TV today, saying that passengers hugged him after touching the ground safely, thanking him for such landing.
If you're too lazy to scroll down, last month, a US Airways Airbus ditched on Hudson River after a flock of birds collided into one of its engines. All 150 passengers were safe, and the captain was hailed as a hero in the media.
With Lion Air's so-so reputation, Haryanto's move can be a flying mark for the airline. Problem is, a team from the European Union is currently in Indonesia to audit the country's aviation, further determining whether the blanket ban can be lifted in March.
EU banned all Indonesian aircraft from flying over Europe in 2007, citing safety as the main reason.
Let's just hope the EU guys will see the heroic side of this story.
On an irrelevant note, I think one of my dreams may come true; if nothing goes wrong, I'm gonna cry singing Fix You with Mr. Martin.

Y
Why didn't I check Coldplay.com like I used to frequently do?
Why didn't Ingga, who had bought two tickets, tell me they're coming to Singapore?
Why didn't anyone tell me?
Why didn't I read it somewhere? I love to read. I read the news like I breathe the air.
Why does it cost a freaking fortune to go to Hong Kong? And another fortune to see them there?
Why didn't I save more money?
Why didn't Sistic provide more tickets?
Why doesn't the universe understand, that I've been wanting to see Coldplay live probably more than I want anything else right now?
Why aren't they coming here, to lovely Jakarta?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Is history repeating itself?

It can go on and on, and on.
Yellow car game
Starbucks coffee at night
Or elsewhere, as long as there's caffeine and people to look at
Silly matchmaking scribbles
Plus a thousand others in the purple book
Endless photo shoots
Plus those taken with colorful props
A trip circling Bunderan HI
Or just driving, talking all at once
New Year's Eves
When celebrating together still mattered
Birthday season
Again, still mattered
Long sleepovers doing nothing
Sing like there's no tomorrow
Sing like a make-believe vocal group should sing
Dream to have a dream house
Now, all I can afford is a dream to have you here.

Blast from the past..and from a galaxy far, far away.
I was literally trying to catch a bus earlier tonight when I heard some guy carrying a beverage cart calling out, "Halo! Alumni 70!"
I naturally turned to see that it was Gondrong! You see, he sells beverage in a cart in front of my old high school, and we used to tease him for having a crush on Bune. Anyway. Seeing him tonight after so many years somehow made me smile alone on the way to the station. Haha. Maybe it's the fact that he remembers me. Or maybe it's just plain good to see someone from the past who brings back all those sugar and spice that made everything nice.
Another..unusual event took place tonight. I was getting water in my office's pantry, and there was this guy filling his own glass on the other water dispenser. He's short, a bit round, with longish hair and a pair of thick-framed glasses.
We were minding our own business, cos I've seen him around but never really know his name. Out of nowhere, he turned to me, smiled, and said, "You like Star Wars, don't you?"
What a pickup line.
Next thing I know, he extended his hand, after sweeping it briefly on his pants because apparently it was..musty, and said his name. He said he saw the little figurines I put on my Mac hard disk, and boy, you have to see his face. It's like he had just found his Tattooine in me.
I had to catch my train, so I couldn't stay for a chat. When he passed my desk, I swear he let out a little snort, leaving his glance on the figurines.
Moments like that DO happen, huh.
