It's a matter of place

Still nothing for new year's eve. Hotel room is a big no-no I think, due to financial and security reasons. Besides I wanna spend the cash on something else (i.e clothes, shoes, bags, CDs, or books). So is it really gonna be Pisok Party like last year?

My question is, why am I not as excited as two years (and backward) ago in planning a new year's party? Last year, I (and I assumed, my friends) didn't wanna book a hotel room because we were bored. Three years in a row before that we'd spent the countdown in the lobby with hundreds of strangers trying to outdo each other fashion-wise. Gaya pol-polan untuk lima menit nampang desek-desekan sama sejuta umat. 2003-2004 was in Le Meridien, 2002-2003 took place in Sari Pan Pacific, and we had a room in Hilton for 2001-2002.

So for 2004-2005 we moved the little party to my house, saying over and over again, "Taun depan kita harus kembali ke kancah perhotelan nih!"

Here we are, a year later, ten days to the "oh-so-big" countdown (I know some people take New Year's Eve as nothing but just another second turning, but I happen to like all kinds of celebrations, including this one), and still facing a big blur.

Kenapa ya?

Kalo soal teror, it's kind of an old issue. We didn't give a damn for the past few years. Memang sih taun ini agak lebih nyeremin ancemannya. Then there's the financial problem. I and Runi used to be sok kaya bukan main, nalangin sana-sini sampe puncaknya kita buka suite di Le Meridien. This year, however, we think twice about spending all those cash. Padahal kalo dipikir-pikir, I earn more this year. Sayang aja kalo diabisin buat buka kamar.

Geez, I feel old worrying about those things. Hehe. Can anyone suggest where we can find a place to celebrate, get drunk and high, blow the trumpets out loud and not to forget sleep nicely afterwards?
